Spring 2004/Final Issue

Jim Farrell, Choral Director at Littleton High School, is presentated a Founder's Award by LFC Cofounder, Nina Tamburello, who once studied under him. Loved and admired by his students, he is known for his ability to cultivate the best in them with his professional enthusiasm blended with his unique brand of soft humor. Among other gifted talent from his department he worked closely with for our CD, he also coached Court Shontz, who recorded his original guitar/vocal piece, "I'll Move On", at the National Digital Television Center.

It was our misfortune that Mr. Farrell could not be present at our awards banquet.
Nonetheless, after great delay due to technicalities on our part, he was presentated his long -overdue award after one of his outstanding annual winter concerts in 2010. We appreciate Mr. Farrell's ongoing contribution to the community since our banquet and the countless young students he continues to impact in a powerful way with his spirited and gentle style of teaching.

As a personal anecdote, Executive Director Tamburello has often asserted that the movie "Mr. Holland's Opus" could have easily been inspired by Farrell's life as a uncommonly dedicated music educator. Tamburello sometimes prefers to affectionately address him as simply "Mr. Holland".
